Tour Description

These programs are designed to lead students to a better understanding of Costa Rican’s tropical forests. It aims at stimulating the knowledge and interest of people in the conservation of the environment.

This package includes a large panel of activities such as:

Each group of students is divided in team of 5 or 6 members before starting the activity.  This helps guaranteeing a quality experience, increases the efficiency of communication with the instructor and reinforces security when doing field word.The activities take place with a team of professional guides and specialized biologists. Each instructor has several years of work experience with students.

Here are some of the educational activities we can offer you:
1.      Introduction to ecology and to the strategies developed by plants in order to survive in the forest. This activity includes an introduction walk in the forest during which we will learn the structure, the dynamic and the adaptation strategies of the fauna and flora.

2.      Nocturnal ecology, which includes a short walk in the forest in order to discover the differences between environment's diurnal life and nightlife. We will also be told about the biotic and abiotic factors that affect nocturnal fauna's life.

3.      Census of vertebrates in the tropical forests: We will combine different type of field evaluation methods in order to take a census of bird species and mammals.

4.      Arthropod's world: This activity is an introduction to the world of millions of insects, spiders and other bugs that live in the tropical forest. The students will learn everything about the strategies of adaptation developed by the insects in order to survive.

5.      Flying vertebrates of the tropical forest: We will take a census of bats, owls and other birds of prey.

6.      Tropical forests' botanic: This is a special activity that includes general ecology and plants' adaptation to their environment. We will also learn which plants can be used for medical purposes.

7.      Census of aquatic vertebrates. We will take a boat for a nocturnal tour on a lake or a river so as to evaluate the number of caimans and of certain frog species.

Security:
The activities are prepared according to the comfort and security of each individual. Some of the activities, such as hiking in the forest, require a certain physical condition; on the contrary, other activities such as short walks or boat tours do not require any particular physical condition.

Our instructors are specialized in doing field work in Costa Rica’s forests and they have been trained so as to answer efficiently to any situation of emergency. Moreover, all our groups take their first aid equipment on every tour they do. We also benefit of a specialized medical assistance as a paramedical accompanies our groups on every tour we do.
